Gold Plated Pins
Gold Recovery From Gold Plated Connector Pins.
There are so many methods of gold recovery from gold plated pins. I will fully try to share all methods with you. This method is so easy. It can apply to medium size pins. In this procedure, You will not need to remove plastic from gold plated pins. That is the reason, I like this method. Different gold plated pins have different quantity of gold. I did not use high-grade connector pins but the result was satisfying. I will try to explain the complete procedure but if you don’t understand any step. You can ask me on any platform. Let’s see which items you will need!…
- Nitric Acid (HNO3)
- Muriatic acid or Hydrochloric acid (HCl)
- Sulfuric Acid (H2SO4)
- Sodium metabisulfite (SMB)
- Filter paper
- UREA

Gold plated pins Recycling:
First of all weight the pins. Your pot should be twenty percent bigger. One kg connector pins need 20-liter pot. Dip 1 kg connector pins in five litter HCl (hydrochloric acid or muriatic acid). Then add 1-liter water. Approximately 1 to 1.5 L nitric acid will use for I kg gold plated connector pins. But add nitric acid 200 ml every time. When reaction will end then again add more nitric acid until all metals dissolve. Your solution color should be green. When all metals dissolve then leave it for cool.
After solution cools down, Filter the solution. I used a fabric but you can also use filter paper.(I don’t make recycling more complicated). After filter, the solution, add a little bit sulfuric acid to extract any silver or lead. Leave for 1 hour.
After one hour, filter the solution again..Now it’s time to gold precipitation. For gold precipitation, neutralize nitric acid first. Add urea until reaction. When urea reaction will over. Mix solution properly.
SMB is a best and easy option for gold precipitation. 2 to 5 gram of gold precipitation will need approx 30 gram of SMB. So, Mix SMB in water and add to the solution. Now add water to the solution until double volume. Next day, gold dust will settle down. Some gold dust can be floating on the surface of the solution. But don’t need to worry and filter the gold dust. Wash gold dust with water properly. If you will not then gold purity will be affected. After filter, store solution for copper recovery.
Now, We have two option.
- Melt Gold Dust
- Refine Gold dust
For melting gold, you can click Here
And for the 2nd option, I use a very easy and simple method. Simple, Burn the filter paper and dry the gold dust. Convert gold dust to the beaker and dissolve in aqua regia. Leave it for two hours and then filter gold solution. Use SMB for gold precipitation. Leave it for gold settle down and then filter and melt.

very helpful article and video bro thank you, wait for your next video, hopefully u can make video of refining gold from old coin too, keep up all good work brother
hey i want to extract Gold only from CPU Gold pins can i use this method?
nice post
hi sir
how to recovery copper from this A/R solution?? and
sir how to remove lead and tin from gold plated connectors pins?
u r all videos r very very information videos
Thanks.
Hi. what about big sized pins?? how to recover gold from them??
hey bro..for recovery copper you say we use steel ,,I don’t know about this ,if you have a video (for recovery copper) please upload bro…thanks a lot of
can I use sulfuric acid 37% to extract silver and lead 96% is difficult to have in my country
Yes, brother, you can.
Thank you, God bless you in Jesus Christ my Lord.
I know the quality of the pins will vary but if you had 1 pound of gold pins and connectors with no plastic approximately how much gold do you think could be recovered
Hello
hello
Thanks for good wishs.
Do you have a tutorial on how to neutralize waste acid and safely disposing of it after refining gold?
This would be very useful. Thank you
